LAUSD Central High School No. 1
Images Description Credits
This new Los Angeles Unified School District high school is located at the highly visible crossing of Sunset Boulevard and the Hollywood Freeway (Hwy. 101), a primary gateway to Hollywood and the Sunset Strip. Designed for 2,625 students and incorporating a continuation school, the project maximizes the valuable 12.4 acre urban site for both students and the local community, by stacking three floors of classrooms within the six-story building over a base of public components (gymnasium, library, theater, parking garage) leaving two-thirds of the site open for playfields, that provide much needed green space within the community.
